A video mixer is a central component when working with analog video. It basically amplifies the power of the glitch gear and allows a wide range of possibilities to develop in the creative hour. A video mixer helps produce what is known as Video Feedback. Instead of pointing a video camera at a TV creating a infinity mirror, the feedback is created through the internal video circuits. In conjunction, the Tachyons+ gear acts as a textural tool to control and expand upon on the feedback, creating all kinds of wonderful alien shapes and colors from other dimensions. Think early Doctor Who intro. Trails, lots and lots of trails..... When adding the glitch gear element in that path, you enter new dimensions.
You can use the T+ gear with a video mixer two ways.
1. Source to T+ to Mixer. Mixer Output back into another channel on the Mixer and mix that.
2. Source to Mixer. Out of Mixer to the T+. Out the T+ into another channel on the Mixer and mix that.
To look out for:
PANASONIC WJ AVE 5 /WJ AVE 7
SIMA SFX 9 / SFX10
PANASONIC MX-12 / MX-30 / MX-50
I will add more info on the powers of each video mixer soon.
Meanwhile, here are few music videos showing T+ gear and a video mixer at work....
